Dragons' Den First Semester Week 10: Homecoming

Homecoming week at San Pasqual Academy was awesome. The spirit days were great, for example we wore pj's on Monday, decade's day on Tuesday, crazy hair and dress all white on Wednesday, mix and match day on Thursday, and on Friday we wore school spirit colors. The pep assembly was crowded, for example every one was happy because we got to watch a step performance. The football game was wonderful, for example we won the game. The dance was awesome, for example we were dancing and had Panda Express for our dinner. Compared to a typical week at SPA, this week made me feel happy and relaxed due to all the short days.

Academic Language Week 10 - Euthanasia

I think that doctors should be allowed to help critically ill patients commit suicide. First, some patients should have certain criteria to get euthanasia, because if they don't then the doctors would get in a lot of trouble for killing a patient that didn't have any illness. Second, they will die sooner or later so why not now when it is fast and painless and the doctors wont have to put any emphasis. Third, patients have the consent to choose weather or not if they want to get euthanasia. Those are my main three reasons that doctors should have the choice to help critically ill patients commit suicide.

Dia de los Muertos - Pick a Person

I plan to construct a Dia de los Muertos altar about Heath Ledger. His main character trait is an avid chess player. This person is known for being an famous actor. This person’s appearance is blond hair, brown eyed, Caucasian, and fit. Others think this person is really good at doing his work, and being a good father to his daughter. This person is known for saying “I only do this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk away.” This person thought “It's not a disease. It's not contagious. They should understand that it's a story of pure love. They don't have to be a hero. They don't have to be brave like us. I guess a little bit of maturity is being asked for because society has been immature in the past. That's about it.” A few items that I may include in my altar to represent this person are a game of chess, all of his movies that he has plaid in, and some of his favorite movies. I selected this person because when I was younger my sister always loved him as a actor. When my sister first showed me the movie "A Knight's Tale" I soon after was in love with his acting skills. That is why I decided to choose him so I could wright about him.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 0: Video Games, Texting, or Sleeping

I sleep because it makes me feel good when I wake up. I decide to sleep when I'm bored, tired, or I ate too much. While I am sleeping, I catch up to my sleep because sometimes I don't sleep the day before. I enjoy sleeping, because it usually makes me feel better then before I slept when I was awake, and makes me less tired. In reflection, I shouldn't sleep more because I usually can't sleep at night like I'm supposed to, and then I wont be fully awake for school, which leads to bad grades, and me getting into more trouble.

Academic Language Week 8 - Junk Food

I think there are a lot of different opinions in school's having junk food in their vending machines. Here are some of the pros and cons. First, yes it should be banned because PREVIOUSLY it has been unhealthy and has cause obesity to a lot of teens. Second, the students have an ALTERNATIVE choice of eating snacks or not, but sometimes the students think of the snacks as a stress reliever from the school that puts the pressure on the students. Third, students might spend their lunch money on junk food and not on the food their suppose to be eating which is a major STRATEGY for the students.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 8: Friends or Adults?

In my life, friends are more important then adults because you always need at least one person that's around for you. One reason is that friends are there for you when you are having relationship problems, like when you are being abused, they can walk you through it, or maybe they can let you stay with them if the problems in the relationship is extreme. Additionally, friends are there when you need a made of honor or best man for you at your wedding. One last reason is that when your at your lowest or you can't take things anymore you always have that one friend to call and talk to. I let my friends know I appreciate them by giving them tons of hugs, and I'm always there trying to help them with something.

Academic Language Week 8 - Ten Commandments

I think that no, the ten commandments shouldn't be apart of school. First, the law says that the role of church and state should not be together. Second, because people are in different category's of religion and if they went to schools with the ten commandments and other religion they don't believe in, they would feel excluded. Third, some teachers might consume too much time teaching religion instead of their  lesson plan when students need to know subjects like math, English, science, etc. That is why certain schools should ban religion since it is forced on a lot of people.

Innocent to compassionate adult interview

When I was 17, I was innocent because I wanted to go to a football game but I wasn't allowed to go, so I pretended to go to sleep and snuck out when my parents went to bed. Then, I experienced the football game that I enjoyed but I felt guilty and was worrying that I was going to get caught, so I didn't stay long because I went to a party with some friends. This helped me to become compassionate because I got caught and I was grounded. After being grounded I learned how selfish it was for me to not listen and sneak out and to make my parents worry.

Autobiographical Narrative - Innocent to Compassionate Brainstorm

When I was 13, I was innocent because I trusted this stranger that happened to be my neighbor. Then, I experienced that riding in his car with him alone scared me a lot, because he was going down a different street that I didn't know of and I thought I was going to die or get raped. This helped me to become compassionate because I learnt not to trust strangers and I didn't want somebody else to get hurt if they trusted somebody they didn't know.

When I was 10, I was innocent because I saved up more then $300 and I went and spent it all on toys that I didn't want or like. Then I experienced that I should of saved  that money and spend it on little things that I want first or give it to somebody in need. This helped me to become compassionate because I was sad after spending it all on things I didn't want and I decided that I should save it on more important things that I or others would need.

When I was 12, I was innocent because this girl told me her secrets and I went and told somebody else. Then, I experienced that I should keep peoples secrets and not be a backstabber and tell other people. This helped to become compassionate because I still feel really guilty on what I did to my best friend, and I never want to do it to somebody else.

Which of these experiences should I write about?

Dia de los Muertos - Article Summary

The article "DAY OF THE DEAD FACTS" by Thaneeya McArdle is about the all the facts of Dia de los muertos. This occurred 40 centuries before 1519 in the land that is now known as Mexico. The people involved with this holiday are the Aztecs. The events included setting up an altar with offerings, cleaning and decorating graves, holding all-night graveside vigils, telling stories about the deceased, making (or purchasing) and exchanging sugar skulls and other sweets. This happened because people believe that death is another way of living. As a result of this celebration that is how people celebrate Dia de los muertos.

Internet Safety Project - Public or Private Profile

I think that teens should put their profile to private on social networking sites because of sexual stalkers. First, they could find out where you live. Second, if they know where you live they could hurt you or kill you. Third, they could post things on your page, and ruin your relationship with people that your good friends with. For example, my friend Tomi flirted with a lot of  guys and one day this guy added her as a friend, he started asking her a lot of questions like where she lived and what she did and who she hung out with, eventually he started following her and he almost raped her, but I called the cops and one of my guy friends beat him up. That is why I don't trust guys that randomly add you as a friend.

Dragons Den 7: Would You Rather?

I would rather get caught singing in the mirror then getting caught spying on my crush (I will never ever do that).
First, in my honest opinion I think it's less embarrassing singing in a mirror, depending on what song it is. Second, if you got caught spying on your crush people could use it against you, singing in a mirror would be ridiculous  if they tried to use it against you. Third, I sometimes do sing in a mirror so it doesn't bother me if somebody caught me doing that. That is why I think that singing in a mirror is better then getting caught spying on your crush.

Academic Language Week 7 - Vampires

I think that it vampires in literature and movies will fade away. The first FACTOR is that it is getting to old, and people don't like that. Second, they use the same PLOT to much, like twilight and other vampire movies and shows, they always end and begin the same way, sometimes a little different like how the vampire falls in love with a human is always the same. Third, in other peoples VOICE'S, it has a lot of gore and romance, so both boys and girls can enjoy vampires. Those are my three reasons why vampires in literature and movies will fade away soon.

"Marigolds" Summary Poem

At 4 A.M. I was ashamed because of my behavior. Yesterday my brother was bored, so I gave him some compassion, as we went over to Ms. Lottie's and we went into a rage. I taught him how to throw pebbles at the Marigolds. The face of my father was horrifyingly shocked once we were caught. Once we were home he told us that because we were in the Great Depression and we might have to move. My mother was crying and sobbing away and the innocence of me starting dying away, I saw John Burke look at me, then I realized that he's holding  flowers, beautiful marigolds. Then he destroys the marigolds, and that is how I realized and regret the terrible things I have done that I Lizabeth is who I am and nobody can change me.
